Some of Italy’s biggest clubs have been linked with the Nigeria-eligible youngster all summer, but England may end up being his final destination
English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have jumped ahead of other teams looking to sign Udinese’s young full-back Destiny Udogie.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Tottenham have contacted Udinese and kicked off talks regarding a potential transfer for Udogie.
Udogie has been one of the hottest properties in Italian football after a remarkable breakthrough season, where he scored five goals and provided four assists in 35 games.
Some of Serie A’s most prominent teams, including Inter Milan, have reportedly been on the trail of the 19-year-old, who cost Udinese around four million euros to acquire from Hellas Verona.
It might take nearly ten times that amount to convince the Zebras to let go of the Italian youth international. That steep transfer fee is one of the reasons why no club has snapped the youngster off the palms of Udinese just yet.
However, that may change soon as Tottenham appear convinced of Udogie’s quality and have taken a significant step towards getting a deal done.
Per the report, Spurs could push to sign Udogie on a permanent deal and be willing to loan the youngster back to Udinese this season.
Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Udogie is still eligible to play for the Super Eagles.
The versatile full-back has, however, not hidden his desire to represent the Italian national team.
