Umar Sadiq has been in the middle of a long-drawn transfer debate all summer
With Villarreal peeping and Sevilla lurking, Sadiq may be finally on his way out of Almeria, according to the CEO and General Manager of the club, Mohamed El Assy.
El Assy made the announcement during Almeria’s last preseason game, according to Mundo Deportivo.
He said the player wasn’t in the preseason squad in order to avoid any injury before he joins his new club.
The transfer, he said, is expected to cost just less than €30m.
Sadiq had been linked with a move for Anthony Modeste, ending speculations of potential move for the Nigeria.
“Umar Sadiq has not traveled to England to avoid any type of injury that could stop the transfer that is close at the moment. It will be sold for just under 30 million euros. We have more than 12-13 players who have received offers, they are players who have a name in the market and are expected to have a great future,” Assy said.
Sadiq has scored 41 goals and nicked 19 assists in 81 games for Almeria and helped them to promotion last season.
The former AS Roma and Partizan Belgrade attacker has said in the past that he wanted a challenge at the top level and a move to a major European league will be an upgrade on his career.
