The Super Eagles midfielder has struggled to get playtime at the Community Stadium this season, and he could drop a tier lower to get minutes
English Championship side Middlesbrough are closing in on a loan deal for Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka.
Onyeka left Midtjylland for Brentford last season, the joint-highest sale for the former Danish Champions.
The Super Eagles star started on a good note for the bees, forming a strong presence in the center of the park.
However, Onyeka saw a massive reduction in his game time towards the end of the season. The 24-year-old only made 20 league appearances last season, and his situation has not improved this season.
Onyeka has only played 66 minutes out of a possible 450. In fact, the Super Eagles star has played just ten minutes in Brentford’s four Premier League games.
However, it seems the 24-year-old could be on his way out of West London, as Skysports reports that Middlesbrough are in talks to sign Onyeka on loan.
Boro have had a torrid start to the season, picking just one win from seven, and manager Chris Wilder would be looking to add quality to his squad.
Still, if they want to land their man, they would have to hasten up, as the transfer window closes in less than 48 hours.
