Report: Super Eagles star could seal shock transfer to Galatasaray

The bulky Nigerian striker left his former side after four successful seasons, but he could join their archrivals this summer

Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme could make a shock move to former Turkish champions Galatasaray according to reports.

Nwakaeme had an unforgettable four-year stay at Trabzonspor, endearing himself to the club and its fans. He made such an impression that the club even made a statue to honor him.

The 33-year-old recorded 47 goals and 40 assists for the club, but last season was his most successful. Nwakaeme registered 13 goals and ten assists in 30 Super Lig appearances, helping his side to their first league triumph in over 30 years.

However, off the pitch, Nwakaeme and Trabzonspor were in a back and forth as his contract was to expire at the end of the season.

The Turkish champions were unwilling to yield to the Nigerian striker’s demands, and he had to leave them at the expiration of his contract.

Nonetheless, it seems Nwakaeme is on the verge of signing for another club. According to Fanatik, the Super Eagles forward could complete a transfer to Galatasaray this summer.

Galatasaray is one of the biggest clubs in Turkey, and they are one of Trabzonspor’s biggest threats in the Super Lig.

If the deal goes through Nwakaeme’s revered status at Trabzon could suffer a big dent.
