The Super Eagles star was caged in his side’s opening day loss to Real Madrid, but he proved his ability, helping Almeria to their first points of the season
Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar scored his first ever Laliga goal, as his Almeria side were held to a 1-1 draw at Elche.
Rojiblancos gave a good account of themselves in their disappointing 2-1 loss to Real Madrid last week. However, they looked to pick themselves up in their second fixture away at Elche at the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.
Almeria matched everything Elche brought to the table, and looked very dangerous in attack.
They were finally rewarded for their good work in the 23rd minute, as Sadiq Umar jumped highest to meet a corner kick and placed a perfect header behind Edgar Badia in the Elche goal.
However, Almeria’s lead did not last, as Alex Collado drew level for Elche in the 30th minute.
There was no goal in the second half, but both teams were more physical, with referee Diaz de Mera dishing out five yellow cards.
In the end, Umar’s goal proved vital, as it finished 1-1 at Elche.
