Napoli have lost Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens this summer, but they have brought in new players to add some bite to the attack
Italian Serie A side Napoli have signed Giovanni as a backup striker for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
Napoli have lost two of the longest serving forwards in Lorenzo Insigne and Belgian star Dries Mertens. However, they have made decent signings to replace the duo.
The Partenopeans have kept their prized asset Osimhen despite interest from abroad. Manchester United, Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich have all been linked to the 23-year-old goal poacher, but Napoli have stood their ground.
Napoli brought in Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for about €10 million. And as confirmed by the club, Diego Simeone’s son Giovanni Simeone has joined the club from Hellas Verona on a season-long loan with an option to buy clause.
Simeone had a decent campaign with the Gialloblu last season registering 17 goals and six assists in 36 league games.
With his arrival, he is expected to fit in with Osimhen in a 4-4-2 formation or serve as a backup.
According to reports, Napoli are also closing in on Sassuolo man Giacomo Raspadori. The deal is expected to be closed before the end of the week.
