The Danish side will hope the young Nigerian forward can follow the developmental trajectory of former ace Paul Onuachu
With a statement on their official website, Danish elite division club FC Midtjylland have confirmed the signing of former Golden Eaglets forward Sunday Moses Obule.
Obule, formerly of Midtjylland’s Nigerian partner club, FC Ebedei, became a part of the FCM’s academy in January 2022.
The 18-year-old striker has convinced the Danish giants of his qualities and has been handed a five-year contract to keep him at the club until 2027.
Midtjylland have also announced that Obule will join Portuguese lower-league side Mafra on loan for the rest of the 2022-23 season.
Speaking on the capture of the former Nigeria youth international, FCM’s sporting director Svend Graversen noted: “We have seen enough from Moses that we can make a five-year contract with him.
“He has had a really good time at U19, where he has also trained with the first team and shown himself well.
“He is a dynamic player who has a great capacity and is very tenacious. It is always gratifying when players from FC Ebedei come through the system.
“As part of his development, we have chosen to lease Moses to Mafra, where he will gain invaluable first-team experience at a good level.”
KRC Genk striker Paul Onuachu and Brighton midfielder Frank Onyeka are two of Nigeria’s prominent footballers who followed the FC Ebedei path to FC Midtjylland before becoming global stars.
