Done deal: Super Eagles striker completes multi-million euro switch to Real Sociedad – report

The Nigeria international has taken a major step forward in his career after leaving a newly promoted side to join the Europa League campaigners

Super Eagles and UD Almeria striker Umar Sadiq has sealed a much-anticipated move to Real Sociedad, reports transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano.

According to the highly respected Romano, Almeria and Real Sociedad have completed negotiations for the former AS Roma striker for a transfer fee in the region of €20 million.

The 25-year-old is expected to head to Basque Country, where he will have a medical test, ink a long-term contract, and be unveiled as a new Real Sociedad signing.

Sadiq joins the Imanol Alguacil-tutored team as a direct replacement for Sweden international Alexander Isak, who moved to Newcastle United for about €70 million.

The switch ends his near two-year association with Almeria, having joined from Partizan Belgrade in October 2020.

The Nigeria international netted 38 goals in the Segunda Division for the Rojiblancos, 18 of which helped them secure promotion to La Liga at the end of last season.

Sadiq has been for a while on the radar of a few Spanish clubs, including Villarreal, Sevilla, Real Betis, and Getafe.

But there have been concerns about how the former Rangers loanee would adapt to life in the Primera Division.

The Kaduna-born striker has largely put those fears to bed after netting two goals in his first three La Liga matches this term.

Real Sociedad will expect Sadiq to lead their Europa League and La Liga challenges during the 2022-2023 season.
