Alex Iwobi proved to be Everton’s brightest spot against Chelsea as he made his new left central midfield role his to master

Chelsea legend and Everton manager, Frank Lampard has hailed Iwobi’s performance against Chelsea despite playing in an unfamiliar position.

The rejuvenated Iwobi has played in a variety of positions for Everton, showing his skill and versatility.

Against Chelsea, the task was different as he was paired alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure in a midfield double pivot.

Iwobi played creditably well in the game providing two key passes that almost led to an Everton goal.

Lampard was full of praises for the Super Eagles midfielder and praised his humility and willingness to play anywhere for the team.

What did Lampard say about Iwobi?

“I thought Alex Iwobi was brilliant in the number six role,” Lampard said after the game.

”Because of his attitude, personality and humility, it doesn’t matter [where he plays]. I thought him and Abdoulaye Doucoure played very well in midfield today.”

How did Everton fans react to Iwobi’s performance?

The Toffees faithful were full of praises for the Nigerian midfielder’s performance.

Imagine telling someone 5 years ago that Dele Alli and Alex Iwobi would be playing on the same team and Iwobi would be miles clear

Wenger and Emery fucked Iwobi real bad. Under-utilized his potential. A very good creator and facilitator in midfield.

Iwobi is an entirely different player under Frank Lampard. High energy and never looks for the easy pass.
