Almeria preparing for life without Sadiq Umar, target Real Madrid striker as replacement

The Rojiblancos are set to lose their star player this summer, and they already have a replacement in mind

Newly-promoted Laliga side Almeria are set to lose star striker Sadiq Umar to Borussia Dortmund this summer, but they are planning a move for Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz as his replacement.

Umar has been brilliant for Almeria since he joined the club from Partizan two years ago. The Super Eagles striker has registered 38 goals and 19 assists in 74 appearances for the Rojiblancos. He was also key in their promotion to the Spanish Premier division.

There have been strong reports linking him with a €30 million transfer to German giants Borussia Dortmund, and the deal could happen very soon.

For Almeria, despite losing their star man, it would be great business for them, as they would be making profits in excess of €18 million.

Rojiblancos are already preparing for life without their star hitman, and according to Futbol Total, they could make a move for out of favour Real Madrid striker Diaz.

The Dominican Republic man has struggled since his move to the Spanish capital four years ago. Diaz has only recorded twelve goals in 73 appearances for Los blancos in his four years at the club, and he is one of the peripheral element in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup. As such, a deal for the 29-year-old should not be difficult.

Diaz is currently valued at €6 million as per transfermarkt, and he could be a good signing for Almeria considering his top-flight experience.
