The Serbian Super Liga is about to welcome the most famous signing of this summer
Nigerian star Anthony Ujah is on the verge of joining Serbian first division club FK Radnički Niš, according to reports in the Russian media.
Ujah became a free agent in June after ending his three-year association with German Bundesliga side Union Berlin.
However, the 31-year-old will not be without a club for much longer, as he is in Serbia to ink a deal with one of the country’s Super Liga clubs.
According to the Zurnal, Ujah has met with the president of FK Radnički Niš, Ivica Tončev, with talks and negotiations looking positive.
Ujah is expected to sign his contract with the club within the next three days, before FK Radnički Niš’s next game against Gzira FC.
A seven-cap Nigeria international, Ujah boasts a rich profile, having previously played for four Bundesliga teams – Werder, Cologne, Mainz, and Union Berlin.
Ujah had some of his best days at Cologne and Werder Bremen, netting 21 goals in 66 games for the former and 11 goals in 30 matches for the latter.
Blighted mostly by injury, Ujah only managed three Bundesliga goals in three years for Union Berlin.
The former Warri Wolves forward was a member of the Super Eagles squad for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
