The Super Falcons star was brilliant for Barcelona last season, and CAF have recognized her for her efforts
Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala has broken Perpetual Nkwocha’s record after winning the 2022 Confederation of African Football female Player of the Year for the fifth time.
Nigerian players and Super Falcons stars have continued to dominate the African scene and create magic for their clubs.
Last season, Oshoala was brilliant for Barcelona, helping her side seal an unprecedented Laliga Femini and Copa de la Reina triumph. Oshoala narrowly missed out on being the first Super Falcons player to win the Women’s Champions League after Barcelona lost to Lyon in the final.
The 27-year-old was the only Nigerian present in the three-woman shortlist for the female player of the year award, but she was huge favourite ahead of Ajara Nchout Njoya (Cameroon) and Grace Chanda (Zambia)
The CAF Awards ceremony was held in Rabat, Morocco, and Oshoala’s status as the best female player on the continent was stamped as she beat her Cameroonian and Zambian counterparts to claim the coveted crown for a record fifth time.

With this win, Oshoala becomes the first African player to win five CAF Player of the Year awards, beating retired Super Falcons star Nkwocha who has four.
