The Nigerian international has all but confirmed his imminent move to the English Premier League after penning a love letter to his Rangers family
Joe Aribo has penned a pleasant message to everyone associated with Rangers, even as the midfielder nears the Ibrox Stadium exit doors.
It is only a matter of time before Southampton FC announce the signing of the Nigerian international, with all necessary paperwork believed to have been completed.
Aribo reportedly passed his medical examination on Friday as he edges closer to a £6 million move to the Saint Mary Stadium.
Refusing to wait until Rangers and Southampton make the deal official, Aribo has sent his appreciation to the Gers for helping him ‘develop into an even better player’.
Aribo’s statement reads: “It’s been an amazing journey being part of this special club. I hold @rangersfc very close to my heart as they gave me the opportunity to showcase my talent on a bigger stage.
“Playing at Ibrox was a dream & I’m glad I got to experience it. I’m happy I was able to play a part in the historic 55 league title-winning season. I’d like to thank everyone associated with this great club for all you’ve done for me during my time here, you’ve always made me feel welcome & I’ve always had your full support.
“I’ve developed into an even better player, credit to the supporters who always had my back and stayed patient during the tough times. We created a lot of memories together, memories that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my career. I wish the club nothing but the best for the future & I’ll always be checking in.”
Aribo arrived at Rangers in 2019 on a free transfer from Charlton Athletic.
The Nigerian international played a vital role as the Light Blues won their first league title in a decade and the club’s 55th in history.
A Scottish Cup triumph followed this season, but it could have been more, with Rangers losing the Europa League final to Frankfurt on penalties.
Aribo scored in the 1-1 draw in that final, in what one Rangers supporter called the ‘greatest goal of his life’.
