Arsenal began their preseason matches on Saturday with a Super Eagles player getting on the scoresheet

Super Eagles winger, Sone Aluko was on the scoresheet on Saturday as Arsenal walloped Ipswich 5-1 in their first preseason game ahead of the new season.

Black Stars prospect, Eddie Nketiah opened the floodgates as early as 30 seconds into the game and went on to score a hat-trick. He also set up Sambi Lokonga in the game.

Nigerian-Briton, Folarin Balogun who played on loan last season at Middlesbrough was also on the scoresheet as he came on in the second half.

Aluko, who represented Aberdeen in the past scored the Blues’ only goal of the game as they started their preseason on a losing note.

He had represented England at the junior levels before also representing Nigeria at the U-20 and U-23 levels. He played for Nigeria under Stephen Keshi and scored his only two goals for the Super Eagles in a match against South Africa in Uyo.

Aluko last played in China before returning to base in England where he had also previously played for Birmingham City, Reading, Hull City, Fulham and also played in Scotland for giants, Rangers and Aberdeen.

He scored three times in 30 games last season in the League One..

The left-footed forward last played for the Super Eagles in 2015 after making his debut six years earlier under Shaibu Amodu.
