The Super Eagles star made a name for himself at Ibrox last season, and the Rangers fans have respect for him despite his exit
Rangers fans have taken to social media to send goodwill messages to Calvin Bassey after his €23 million move to Ajax.
The versatile Super Eagles defender joined Rangers in 2020 for free after he was released by Leicester City. But Bassey struggled to get playing time in his first season, making 15 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 22-year-old rose to prominence last season, making 50 appearances in appearances. Bassey was outstanding in the run-up to Rangers’ Europa League final berth. He also helped the Gers to a League Cup triumph.
The Nigerian announced his name on the big stage with man of the match performances in the two finals he played in the Europa League and Scottish Cup.
Following his performances, Bassey was linked to some top European teams.
Nonetheless, Bassey chose to ioin Ajax. Following his transfer, Bassey wrote a heart-felt appreciation to Gers, and they also replicated the gesture, extolling the 22-year-old.
Good luck at Ajax and for the future Calvin, we’ll all be watching your career and supporting you 😔💙 pic.twitter.com/Po46hWSpwX
