Super Falcons players celebrate

The Super Falcons are aiming for a tenth title in Morocco, armed with some of the continent’s finest and biggest but firmly on the eyes of many opposition

The 2022 Women of Africa Cup of Nations will begin on the 2nd of July with hosts Morocco facing Burkina Faso in the first game.

Morocco are hopeful of starting on a good note but will be looking at Africa’s biggest and best team as its long-standing detractor.

Before Morocco can come to mind, the Super Falcons have the immediate responsibility of coming out of a generally fair group.

Banana Banyana who defeated the Nigerians in 2018 in the group stage before losing on penalties in the final will play the Super Falcons again.

Burundi and Botswana complete Group C.

When will the Super Falcons face Banyana Banyana of South Africa?

The Super Falcons will face the South Africans in the first game on Monday the 4th of July, hoping to begin the tournament on a positive note and reminding the rest of the continent about the team’s quality.

With star forward, Asisat Oshoala, versatile midfielder, Rashidat Ajibade, and the experience of veterans Onome Ebi, Rita Chikwelu and others, the Nigerians hope to lay down the marker.

South Africa walloped the Super Falcons 4-2 in front of home fans at the Aisha Buhari Cup with many players missing out of that tournament.
