The Leoni alati suffered relegation last season, but they had some good moments to take with them to the Serie B
Italian side Venezia have rated David Okereke’s beautiful solo goal against Empoli, which gave them their first top-flight win in over twenty years, as their best for the 2021/2022 season.

Venezia returned to the Serie A last season after over twenty years in the lower divisions. However, they struggled with the pace of the Italian top-flight in the opening weeks, as they picked just eight points from a possible thirty.
Okereke was brought in on a season-long loan from Club Brugge. Nonetheless, his seven league goals were not enough to help them survive the drop as they finished rock-bottom of the Serie A.
Still, the Nigerian striker gave them some great moments with his goals, one of which Venezia rate as their best of the season.
Okereke scored the second for Venezia in a 2-1 victory against Empoli- their first of the season and their first in over 20 years. Asides the significance of the goal, the quality of the strike could melt Venezia hearts.
Okereke scored a goal similar to legendary George Weah’s solo goal for AC Milan against Verona in 1996. The 24-year-old picked up the ball from his half after a failed Empoli attack and ran forward, slaloming through defenders. Then he struck a well-placed strike into the bottom right corner in traffic.
Okereke is set to return to Club Brugge following the expiration of his loan deal at Venezia.
