Rojiblancos ready ex-Man United man Edinson Cavani as Super Eagles striker’s replacement

The Uruguayan striker is still regarded as one of Europe’s most potent target men despite his advancing years

Almeria have identified former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani as the ideal replacement for star forward Umar Sadiq, should the Nigerian leave the club this summer.

Sadiq will be one of the most sought-after strikers this transfer window, as in the previous one, following another excellent campaign for the Rojiblancos.

The Super Eagles star boosted his profile with 18 goals and 12 assists to fuel Almeria’s charge to win the Segunda Division title and seal promotion to La Liga.

But despite being on the radar of Barcelona, Sevilla, and Valencia, Sadiq has made it clear he does not want to leave Almeria just yet, choosing to experience the best of Spanish league football with La Union.

Almeria, however, remain open to a deal and will let the former AS Roma ace leave at the right price.

And the newly promoted second division champions are targeting Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani to lead their survival challenge in the top flight should Sadiq leaves the Mediterranean Games Stadium, as per Larazon.

Cavani is presently a free agent after Manchester United turned down the chance to extend his contract.

The former Paris Saint-Germain hotshot is still one of the most respected strikers in the business, with 360 club goals for Palermo, Napoli, PSG, and United.
