The unsettled Super Eagles star rediscovered his scoring boots after failing to score in Genk’s previous three games
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu came off the bench to score the vital equalizer for Genk as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Charleroi.
The Smurfs traveled to Stade du Pays de Charleroi, looking to snatch a result against Ozornwafor’s Charleroi, who had lost their previous two matches. Ozornwafor has been poor recently, and he was benched for the fixture.
Also, Onuachu had been off-color recently, and Genk boss Bernd Storck decided to leave him out of the starting lineup. However, the Nigerian hitman was duly missed as Genk failed to record a shot on target in the first half.
Vakoun Issouf Bayo put the home side in front just before halftime, pushing Storck to tweak his setup.
Onuachu was introduced at halftime, and the big Nigerian talisman paid off the faith as he ended his three-game barren run after he struck home in the 80th minute to make it 1-1.
The Smurfs thought they had three points in the bag when Kristian Thorstvedt made it 2-1 in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, Bayo capitalized on a defensive mix-up in the Genk defense and struck at the death, to rescue a 2-2 draw for Charleroi.
