Rivers United were back in winning ways against Remo Stars and have restored their seven-point lead on top of the table

Week 29 of the Nigerian Professional Football League ended with home teams typically picking up significant victories.

Three draws were recorded across the ten venues in the league as Remo Stars maintained their hold on top of the log, seven points better than Plateau Utd sitting second.

Abia Warriors defeated Plateau 2-0 to further improve their chances of avoiding a relegation dogfight.

Rangers International of Enugu rose back to third after defeating 1-0. Deji Ayeni’s Akwa United also defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in Uyo to keep aiming closer to a top four finish and gatecrash into continental football, one year after having same experience as league winners.

Gombe United pummeled Kwara United 4-2 while Kano Pillars thrashed fellow relegation battlers Heartland 3-1 in Abuja.

Super Eagles assistant coaches, Usman Abdallah and Finidi George went head to head as Katsina United faced Enyimba. Katsina won the game 1-0.

Sunshine Stars held Lobi Stars held to a goalless stalemate in Makurdi in one of the draws of the weekend while MFM held Shooting Stars at home to give a glimmer of hope in their attempt to stay safe.

Nasarawa defeated Wikki Tourists through a Tochukwu Michael 6th minute goal and held on to the lead till the end of the game.

Remo Stars held Rivers United for 75 minutes but couldn’t save a rather fortuitous goal from Enyinnaya Kazie after a Morice Chukwu free kick.
