Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum declined to comment on the reported captaincy controversy in the team as he added that the Nigerian media has reported many inaccuracies on the issue.
In a media briefing in Canada, Waldrum responded to a question by Eagles Trackers on the captaincy problems in the team.
“You know what? I really don’t want to comment on that right now because one thing I want to say is the Press in Nigeria make a lot of comments that aren’t accurate.
“We are making some decisions as a new coach coming into a team who wants to make decisions on leadership in the team. And I think the responsible thing to do is to discuss those things with the team first before you do those things in the media. I just want to refrain from commenting on that,” Waldrum said.
Reports of a change in captaincy had made the rounds earlier in the weak with Onome Ebi mentioned as the new captain of the team.
Asisat Oshola had captained the Super Falcons since September 2019 and reacted to the reports in a controversial manner.
She called the new captain Ebi names in different tweets and the issue and the lack of communications on the captaincy have led to a controversy within senior members of the 9-time African champions.
Media, please get it right always. See some of the damage caused?
