Super Eagles stars Sanusi, Omeruo shine in Porto, Leganes wins

The two Nigerian internationals were in action on Tuesday night as their respective club sides secured thrilling league victories

Super Eagles full-back Zaidu Sanusi was on target as Porto carved out a straightforward 3-0 win over Santa Clara at the Estadio do Dragao.

A Fábio Vieira brace within the opening 40 minutes gave Porto a two-goal advantage at halftime before Sanusi’s 84th-minute finish rounded a fine home win for Porto.

Sanusi could lift the first league title of his career at the end of this campaign, with Porto the favourites to finish top of the Primeira Liga.

Coach Sérgio Conceição’s men are six points ahead of second-place Sporting Lisbon and 15 points more than bitter rivals Benfica in third.

In Spain, Kenneth Omeruo did well to help Leganes claim a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Fuenlabrada at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

Despite Omeruo starting at centre-back, the home started poorly, conceding twice in the first 12 minutes.

Morocco’s Yacine Qasmi reduced the deficit in the 19th minute before an inspiring second-half performance saw the Cucumber Growers score twice through Javi Hernández and Jose Arnaiz to power their first win in four games.

In the Albania Superliga, Nigeria’s Adeleke Akinyemi scored Laci’s consolation goal in the 2-1 loss at Partizani Tirana.

The 23-year-old attacker equalised for the visitors just after the interval after Bitri had given Tirana a first-half lead.
But Xhuliano Skuka’s penalty on the hour-mark bagged all the three points for the home side.

Nigeria’s Aliyu Ibrahim was among the goalscorers as Lokomotiva Zagreb defeated Slaven Koprivinca 3-1 at the Stadion Kranjčevićeva in a Croatian top-flight game week 29 fixture.

Ibrahim netted his sixth goal of the season and Locomotiva’s third of the evening in the 92nd minute before he was replaced by 18-year-old home boy Luka Stojković.
