The new Leeds boss just took over from Marcelo Bielsa, but the Super Eagles trio ensured that his debut ended on a bad note
Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho assisted Harvey Barnes’ goal, while Ademola Lookman and Wilfred Ndidi put up wonderful performances to help Leicester City to a 1-0 victory over Leeds United.
Leeds were in a poor run of form, which saw them lose four of their last five games. New boss Jesse Marsch took over last week, and he faced a stern test against a Leicester City side looking to pick up the pieces of their Premier League campaign.
Leicester City started the game on the backfoot, with Leeds dictating play. However, Ndidi soon enforced his ability in midfield to help Leicester City regain control of the midfield.
Nonetheless, there were chances at either end, but both teams were wasteful in front of goal. The Foxes took a goalless draw into the break.
The second half started with Leeds all fired up, and they could have taken the lead if not for brilliance from Kasper Schmeichel.
Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers introduced Lookman and Iheanacho into the game in the 61st minute. And they added a lot of bite into the Foxes’ attack.
Lookman’s pace was a constant threat to the Leeds defence, and he also added some help defensively, registering four tackles in the game.
Iheanacho showed his brilliance just seven minutes after his introduction, as he provided a beautiful assist for Barnes’ strike, which gave Leicester a one-goal lead.
After the goal, Leicester City kept it tight at the back to see out the 1-0 win. Ndidi had an 87 percent pass accuracy, two interceptions, and one clearance.
The victory was Leicester City’s second consecutive Premier League victory.
