Leicester City Women’s star, Ashleigh Plumptre had a dream debut for the Super Falcons when she featured against Cote D’Ivoire in Abuja.
Plumptre’s performance for Nigeria was met with rave reviews as she defended brilliantly and stopped the Ivorians’ attacking forays on occasions.
Her good performance saw fans chant “Oyinbo!!!” after the game and she looked to enjoy the adulations she received on the night.
In an interview with Channels TV, the delectable Plumptre said while she smiles a lot, she shows her physical side on the pitch.
“I’m a quite smiling person but when it comes to being on the pitch, I bring out my physical side. I guess that’s my Nigerian side,” she said.
Plumptre further revealed her reason for choosing Nigeria and said her heritage and her family were important in her decision to switch allegiances.
“My purpose in football has changed as I’ve grown and my journey has become a little bit different and the reason I play football has changed as well. As much as I love playing football, I like to play for a purpose and a reason. I know the impact I can have by delving into my heritage more and representing the people I’m always familiar with.
“As much as it’s about football, it’s also about what I’m passionate about, and what I can bring as a person,” she said.
