‘Ghana go collect’- Reactions pour in after Ghana release squad for game against Nigeria

Reactions have continued to pour in since the Ghanaian Football Association released their 27-man squad for the game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

As part of their antics, albeit laughable, the Ghanaian FA opted to make known the names of invited players barely three days to the first leg of the crucial World Cup qualifier. Of the ten teams vying for the five tickets to Qatar, the Black stars were the last to release their squad list.

However, despite the delay, the list has been greeted by many criticisms, as many feel some players who should be there are not.

Ghanaian legend and record goalscorer Asamoah Gyan was left frustrated by the exclusion of Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru. Gyan believes the 24-year-old is currently the second-best midfielder that Ghana has.

Nonetheless, other Ghanaians were optimistic, stating their belief in the team’s chances of ousting the Super Eagles.

On the other hand, Nigerians have berated the Black Stars for the lack of known stars.

Soccernet shares some of these reactions:

Just take Thomas Partey out of the Game and it'll be Ghana 0-3 Nigeria

Ghana qualifying even by mistake will be a waste of everybody's time. We simply do not have the men.

Kofi Kyere isn't a defender. He's a midfielder. Are you saying you'd choose Ashimeru over Kudus? Comparing him to Partey is even a non starter coz they don't play the same roles https://t.co/GA2F27cyB8

So Ghanaians think they can go to World Cup with these squad. Apuuuu is better they stay at home and watch the nations who are serious to put up something for their nations not Ghana.

— kwaku owusu adabie (@AdabieKwaku) March 22, 2022

Hmmm bro, the current Black Stars management we use to have is not the same at the moment. My worries is not about qualifying for world cup, but they will disgrace Ghana just as they did in the just ended afcon. NO SINGLE WIN.

— Jonas Natuo (@JNatuo) March 22, 2022

Forget the world cup, I'd prefer Burkina Faso in place of Ghana (if Nigeria isn't going).

You simply have a weak side.

— Righteous Sinner (@Lord_Kusman) March 22, 2022

Am happy Dede isn’t part of de team bcuz we currently v better place playing well dan him. Dis suspension is very good on Ghana’s behalf. At least it saves us from his wahala

If Black stars is the only hurdle between Nigeria and the World Cup then forget
Naija can never beat Ghana in such an important game 😎🇬🇭
