The Super Eagles star officially completed his move to the Vicarage Road on Wednesday evening, and he cannot wait to get started
Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu has said he admires Real Madrid star Eden Hazard and Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
Kalu said this after he was unveiled as Watford’s latest signing. Soccernet had reported about Kalu’s move to Watford, but the official announcement was delayed due to a work permit.
However, the Hornets have now secured a work permit for him and announced his arrival from Bordeaux on a three and a half year deal.
Kalu was unveiled on Wednesday evening, and in his first interview with the club’s website, he revealed fans should watch out for a player in the mould of Hazard and Ronaldo.
“I’m the kind of player that plays like Eden Hazard, I admire him a lot. I also watch Cristiano Ronaldo,” Kalu said on Watford’s website.
“These two players I watch a lot, they help me grow as a professional football player.”
Kalu will not have trouble settling down quickly at Watford as the Hornets currently have three Nigerians (Etebo, Ekong and Dennis) in their squad.
The 24-year-old revealed his international teammates’ presence will help him adapt quickly to his new environment.
“I know [Emmanuel] Dennis very well, and [William] Troost-Ekong, we played together at Gent. I also know [Peter] Etebo, we’ve played together in the national team.”
“They will help me a lot. I saw Dennis and Etebo and they were very happy to see me. I know they are going to help me settle at the club,” he added.
Kalu’s first line of duty will be to help Watford avoid relegation from the Premier League. The Hornets are currently 19th on the Premier League table, two points from safety.
