Super Eagles star could have played for Manchester United or Arsenal

Super Eagles and Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis could have moved to former Premier League Champions Arsenal or Manchester United, but the deals fell through because both sides were not ready to match Club Brugge's valuation of the player.

Dennis has hit the ground running since he left Club Brugge for the Hornets in the summer. With his outstanding returns of six goals and five assists in 14 games, he is looking like the bargain of the season at four million euros.

Whilst the talk about his performances have lingered, the could haves have also sufficed after the 24-year-old's close friend and PR manager Drew Uyi explained that the Red Devils wanted to sign him as a youngster in 2017, but Club Brugge asked for a ridiculous fee.

The Gunners also went knocking in 2020, but the price wasn't favourable.

“Arsenal were interested (in signing Dennis) in the past, Manchester United were also interested, but for Club Brugge ridiculous fee on him,” Uyi told The football show.

“They wanted 25m pounds, while these clubs were prepared to pay 15m. In the end, he joined Watford for 3.4m pounds because his contract was running out.”

Nevertheless, if the former Cologne man keeps posting his impressive numbers, it would only be a matter of time before he gets scooped up by one of Europe's big boys.
