The 23-year-old has been a constant figure for Oscenses Azulgranas this season, but his top performance could not help his side to a victory
Huesca midfielder Kelechi Nwakali played all 90 minutes in Huesca’s 0-0 stalemate at home to Alcorcon.
Nwakali and his teammates went in search of redemption after their 1-0 Copa Del Rey loss to Girona last week.
The fixture looked like an easy one, as they entertained an Alcorcon side who are bottom of the Laliga 2 division and only won one of their last 14 games in all competitions.
Nwakali ran the show from midfield, trying to open spaces, control the flow of the ball, and break opposition lines.
Huesca had most of the ball, but they failed to score despite their four shots on target. However, luck was also not on their side as they hit the woodwork once in the game.
Nwakali was the best Huesca player on the night, getting involved with everything Huesca had going forward. He had 60 touches, with an 84 per cent pass accuracy.
He had a shot on goal, which was well saved by Alcorcon goalie Jose Suarez. He won seven of his nine ground duels and ceded possession just eight times.
The draw means that Huesca will end the year in 11th position, four points away from the Laliga 2 playoffs spot.
But with Nwakali’s form, he could be part of the team that would represent Nigeria at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
