The ex-Nigerian captain continues to receive plaudits from current and former players for his magic on the ball during his playing days

Former Brazil midfielder Alex de Souza is the latest Brazilian to speak of the greatness of former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay-Jay Okocha.

Okocha was known for his trickery, stepovers, dribbling skills and setpiece quality on the ball during his playing career.

The 48-year-old played for many clubs during his career, including Fenerbahce and Eintracht Frankfurt, who faced off in the Europa League last night.

And ahead of the clash, the ex-Bolton Wanderers man was honoured by Fenerbahce, with Mesut Ozil presenting him with the number ten jersey.

Okocha was one of Ozil’s idols growing up, and the former German international took to his Twitter handle to share his excitement after meeting the former PSG star.

What an honour to meet one of my childhood idols: Jay Jay Okocha 🇳🇬🔟💛💙 It’s been great talking to you my friend 👍🏼 #M1Ö pic.twitter.com/d7XXvIDJrf

— Mesut Özil (@MesutOzil1088) December 10, 2021

Fenerbahce also shared the picture on their Twitter feed, and reacting to the tweet, Aled de Souza, who also played for Fenerbahce, called the ex-Super Eagles captain a magician.

De Souza is not the first Brazilian to speak in awe of Jay-Jay. Brazilian legend Ronaldinho also revealed the ex-Hull City man is one of the two number tens he admired.

Well it is a shame for organizers of football in Africa that they did not honor Jay Jay Okocha at least with one African footballer of th year even the one he deserved was rigged and given to Hadji but up till date Okocha keep on being held in high esteem because of his football magic

His only crime was being an African. If he had been a white man he would have worshipped by the media. Sigh…

Like I suggested in a comment to a previous report on ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, the uncommon honour that will befit his record and talent would be for him to personally see to talent haunt organization to discover 10 promising talents to replace his yet unplugged talent hole on Super Eagles stable.

Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has been a rare talent in the talent filled class of 1990-2005 Super Eagles
