I Bianconeri have endured a terrible run of form in recent times, and the club’s top hierarchy have decided to go in another direction without the Italian manager
Nigerian forward Isaac Success is set to work under a new head coach after Udinese sacked Luca Gotti on Tuesday.
The club announced the dismissal of the 54-year-old Gotti through a statement on its official website.
The statement reads: “Udinese Calcio announces that it has relieved Luca Gotti from the technical leadership of the first team.
“The most heartfelt thanks go to the coach for the years lived together. The Club wishes Gotti the best professional fortunes for the rest of his career.”
Gotti arrived in Udinese in 2019 first as assistant manager, after vacating a similar role at English Premier League side Chelsea.
But the former Italy U-17 coach only started working with fringe Super Eagles star Isaac Success in the summer.
The two-cap Nigerian international arrived on loan from Watford and had enjoyed the favour of Gotti, who sought to ease him gradually back to his best form after a lengthy spell out injured.
And Success appeared to be finding his feet in Italy after notching a goal and two assists in just 297 minutes on the pitch spread across seven Serie A games.
The ex-Golden Eaglets star provided his latest assist at Empoli at the weekend to give Udinese a first-half lead, but the Friulians eventually fell to a 3-1 defeat.
That was Udinese’s fourth straight game without a win, with the club winning just one of its last 13 top-flight matches.
And I Bianconeri have decided it is time to part ways with Gotti. No replacement has yet been named.
