The former Enyimba coach has been keeping an eye on some of the players in the Nigerian national team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations

Super Eagles interim boss Austin Eguavoen has praised the qualities of Chidera Ejuke and Samuel Chukwueze, saying both players have a lot of potentials.

Ejuke only made his Super Eagles debut last year, but he is already a fan-favourite. The CSKA Moscow winger is known for his fantastic dribbling skills and has been arguably CSKA’s best player this season.

The 23-year-old caught Nigerians attention after his impressive cameo in the win over the Central African Republic last October.

Following the game, Nigerian football lovers praised the quality of the ex-Heerenveen man, with some even suggesting he could be the next Jay-Jay.

Eguavoen also holds the view, saying the youngster is an exceptional talent. The Super Eagles interim boss told ATHLST in a special production on Nigeria’s football philosophy and tactics.

“Having followed football, when I see Ejuke Chidera today, I think that young man has got a lot of potentials if properly used and encouraged as well,” Eguavoen said.

Ejuke is not the only Nigerian winger Eguavoen praised. The 56-year-old also spoke highly of Chukwueze, although he admitted the Villarreal youngster still has a lot to learn.

“And Chukwueze as well, he added. When I see Chukwueze on the flank, you can see it’s like it’s a baby.

“He still has a lot. I think he can still achieve a lot.

Eguavoen will hope both Ejuke and Chukwueze are at their best when Nigeria begin their quest for a fourth continental title in Cameroon.
