The Napoli striker was the best player at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday as Nigeria booked their playoff spot in the CAF 2022 World Cup qualifiers

Nigerians are singing the praises of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen following his man of the match performance against Cape Verde on Tuesday evening.

Osimhen’s performance helped Nigeria play out a 1-1 draw against Cape Verde, which sealed their place in the playoff round of the 2022 World Cup qualifier.

The 22-year-old put Nigeria ahead in the first minute before Stopira levelled the scores for Cape Verde four minutes later.

While the Super Eagles were unable to get the win, Osimhen’s performance stood out. Aside from the goal, the Napoli striker worked tirelessly and was a menace in Cape Verde’s defence line.

The former Lille man combined perfectly with the returning Odion Ighalo, setting up the Al-Shabab striker on a couple of occasions.

The opening goal capped off an all-round performance, and following the game, fans took to social media to shower praises on him.

I admire Osimhen so much. This guy is our present and our future

Bar Osimhen. Zero spirit in this team. Zero fight. Zero zeal.

It’s glaring. These players don’t seems to enjoy Rohr and his tactics again or am I just being too forward?!

Victor Osimhen is carrying us on his shoulders

The first 15 minute of Nigeria vs Cape Verde has been a Victor Osimhen show.

What a player #NGACPV

Osimhen is really good and really plays for the 🇳🇬
Gernot Rohr is not the way forward, get a young Nigerian coach and give him a chance.

— حسن🇳🇬 (@Salmanlinc) November 16, 2021

I wish Victor Osimhen all the best in his career. Top player, top human.

Osimhen has 10 goals in 13 games for Nigeria. Yekini we’re coming

— Oris (@_Ortodox) November 16, 2021

Victor Osimhen plays as if he’s being controlled by a kid on FIFA who’s found a cheat code to make him more skilful, stronger, quicker and generally better than everyone else on the pitch. What a player.

— John Bennett (@JohnBennettBBC) November 16, 2021

Osihmen is an absolute bulldozer of a player! How does he maintain this work rate every game? This needs to be studied.

— Adeyemi Adegboyega (@stgboye) November 16, 2021

It is not only at the international level Osimhen has impressed this season. The Nigerian is also firing on all cylinders at his club.

The 22-year-old has scored nine goals in 13 appearances for Napoli this campaign.

I have being talking about this boy, but no one seems to see what am seeing in him . What Nigeria need is a very good coach, who knows how to connect good creative midfielders to him, then Nigeria will see the very best in him, when he will become a monster in front of goal. Not a coach struggling to win home matches with these great players.
