The Nigerian striker walked off minutes into the second half in the Neapolitans league game against the Nerazzurri on Sunday evening

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen suffered a nasty injury in Napoli’s Serie A clash against Inter Milan at the San Siro Stadium.

Osimhen walked off in the 55th minute with a black eye and swollen cheek after following a clash of heads with Inter’s defender Milan Škriniar.

Both players clashed as Mexico striker Hirving Lozano delivered a cross into Inter’s box. Although they both needed treatment, Škriniar came out unscathed.

However, Osimhen was not lucky as he required lengthy treatment before walking off with a swollen black eye and cheek.

The injury is a blow to Osimhen’s progress this season. The Nigerian international missed three months of action in his first year at Naples due to a shoulder injury and coronavirus, but he has started well this season, with nine goals in 14 appearances so far.

He could not add to his tally on Sunday before he was taken off due to the injury. Meanwhile, Napoli lost their unbeaten start as Inter triumphed in a 3-2 thriller.

Piotr Zieliński put Luciano Spalletti’s men ahead, but a penalty from Hakan Çalhanoğlu and a header from Ivan Perisic turned it around for Inter in the first half.

Lautaro Martinez strike in the 61st minute made extended the home side’s lead. Napoli pulled one back through Dries Mertens, but they were unable to find the equaliser despite having many chances.
