The 22-year-old’s move to Naples is one of the transfers football authorities are looking into following reports of foul play
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said he is relaxed after investigators revealed they are looking into the transfer that brought Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to the club.
Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 for a club and African record of 81.3m euros. However, investigators in Italy believe there were four other players involved in the deal, which Napoli failed to reveal.
According to reports, the value of the four players Napoli released to Lille was about 20.1m euros, yet there was no trace of it in the deal that brought Osimhen to Naples.
As a result, football authorities in Italy have now launched an investigation into the transfer along with deals that involved some other Serie A clubs.
Nonetheless, De Laurentiis insists his conscience is clear, saying he has nothing to hide.
“I’m not worried because I’m a warrior,” the filmmaker told Newyork Times.
It is not the first time investigators will be looking into Osimhen’s transfer. French authorities also probed former Lille owner Gerard Lopez over the transfer.
