The Leicester City attacker has expressed his wish to represent the three-time African champions at international level

Nigerians have expressed their excitement following the news that Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman has decided to represent the Super Eagles.

Lookman was born in England to Nigerian parents, meaning he is eligible to play for either country at international level.

Although he has represented the Three Lions at youth level, winning the U20 World Cup, the former Everton winger has decided to play for his parent’s country at the national team level.

Nigerian football fans could not contain their excitement following the news, taking to their social media accounts to praise Lookman’s decision.

A couple of them believe the Super Eagles are now well-equipped to win next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, while some hope the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze can follow suit.

Lookman can now play for Nigeria. All these talents we have will still not result in anything as long as Rohr and that rubbish Pinnick are still in charge.

I’m so happy about Ademola Lookman you don’t know the half of it

— Daniel ‘Bamiji’ (@DanielBamiji_) November 4, 2021

Welcome home, Ademola Lookman.

— OT Malone (@taiwolabode) November 4, 2021

Ademola Lookman FINALLY is playing for Nigeria.

Tosin Adarabioyo and Ovie Ejaria should be next.

Wish Olise and Eze could play for us too.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has revealed that the 24-year-old is in his 40-man provisional squad for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

However, according to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) chief scout via the BBC, Lookman may have to wait before making his debut for the team.

    Let’s not quarell over everything!
Remember, football is a sport and a great one for that matter
The spirit of sportsmanship should always prevail over jealousy and hate
He could be there for several reasons, including leadership which is lacking in the team now and to mentor some misfiring young Strikers to improve on their game. For me nothing is wrong to have him back if he is willing to return. We have seen example in other countries doing same and remember , together everyone achieves more!

In 1990 Worlld Cup, Cameroun National coach Valery Nepomnyaschchy despite being blessed with star forwards like Patrick Mboma, had to bring Roger Milla 0ut of retirement. Roger Milla turned to be the star of that tournament, scoring 4 goals(as supersub) that catapulted Cameroun to the quarterfinal. Let’s not write off Ighalo. A blend of experience and youth is necessary for high profile tournaments.
