The Gunners bounced back from their 4-0 thrashing at Liverpool with a comfortable victory over the Magpies on Saturday afternoon

Former Super Eagles star Kanu Nwankwo might have played a ‘little role’ in Arsenal’s win over Newcastle on Saturday afternoon after meeting with Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal bounced back from their 4-0 loss at Liverpool last week with a 2-0 win over the Magpies, courtesy of second-half goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinell.

But before the game, Kanu met Arteta to offer some words of encouragement and positive vibes, which appeared to work judging from the result.

The former Super Eagles captain took to his social media accounts to reveal he met the Gunners boss before the match, while he also congratulated the team after the win.

Kanu said: Words of Encouragement and positive vibes. Nice to meet you before this game and congratulations on the win @mikelarteta
“@arsenalControl the ball and stay hungry for the win.”

It is not a surprise to see Kanu invested in Arsenal’s results. The Atlanta 96 Olympics gold-medalist is a cult hero at the club, having scored 44 goals in 196 appearances.

He also won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups during his time at the club.
