The two Nigerian stars played key roles for their respective clubs as the Foxes secured their first win in Group C of this season’s Europa League
Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho traded two assists with former Nigerian winger Victor Moses as Leicester City beat Spartak Moscow 4-3 in a thrilling Europa League encounter in Moscow.
Iheanacho provided two assists for Patson Daka, who scored Leicester’s four goals. The Foxes went into the game knowing they needed to win to stand a chance of finishing first in the group, which guarantees automatic qualification.
Brendan Rodgers men drew against Napoli in their first group before suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to Legia Warsaw in Poland.
It looked like it would be a similar story in Russia when Aleksandr Sobolev put Spartak ahead in the 11th minute.
The situation got worse for Leicester when Moses set up Jordan Larsson in the 44th minute to double the home side’s advantage.
However, Leicester City gave themselves a lifeline when Daka pulled one back on the stroke of half-time, finishing off a low cross from Ihenacho.
The goal gave Leicester more belief, and they drew level just three minutes after the break as Iheanacho and Daka combined again.
The Zambian striker completed his hat-trick and put the Foxes ahead in the 54th minute by finishing off an assist from Youri Tielemans.
It didn’t end there as he scored his fourth 12 minutes from time with a brilliant left-footed finish. However, Spartak set up a nervy finish as Moses set up Aleksandr Sobolev in the 86th minute.
But Rodgers men held on for a vital win which moved them up to second in Group C ahead of Napoli’s clash against Legia on Thursday.
