Former Premier League manager believes Osimhen could be a tough opponent against Leicester City

The Nigerian striker squares off against his international teammates on Thursday, and he would look to wreak havoc to ensure that his team take away all three points

Former Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has tipped Nigerian Striker Victor Osimhen to be a difficult opponent for Leicester City’s defence.

The Nigerian striker is one of the most reliable players for the Parthenopeans, as his play on and off the ball is a key component of Luciano Spalletti’s setup.

The former U-17 star could once again be part of the line-up when Gil Azzurri square off against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.

Osimhen is yet to register his name on the scoreboard for Napoli on the continent after three attempts, but Di Canio believes that the Nigeria international could find some joy against Leicester City’s defence.

“Vestergaard, who has just arrived from Southampton, is tall and wiry, but with someone like Osimhen, if the Nigerian plays, he will have a hard time.” Di Canio told II Martino as per GFNI.

“Then there is the Turkish defender [Caglar Soyuncu] who had to go to City but then stayed, and he has lost his head. Soyuncu also did damage to Turkey.”

Osimhen will be up against National teammates Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi. Still, he will take no prisoners as he is yet to register his name on the scoreboard for Napoli this season.
