“A good buy for the Serie A” – Udinese boss certain Napoli made the right transfer decision on Osimhen

in News, NewsNow, Nigeria, Serie A

The Nigerian forward was the cynosure of all eyes when he completed a multi-million euro move to Italy last year, and he has got even more tongues wagging after a brilliant display in the Europa League

Udinese coach Luca Gotti is convinced of Victor Osimhen's quality and has hailed Napoli for spending the cash to bring the Nigerian striker to the Italian Serie A.

Two points separate sixth-place Udinese and third-place Napoli ahead of their league clash at the Dacia Arena – Stadio Friuli later on Monday.

One of the dangerous men that Udinese would be wary of is Super Eagles forward Osimhen, who arrives in Udinese without a Serie A goal to his name this season.

The 22-year-old, however, kicked off his campaign in stunning style when he scored two fantastic goals to earn a 2-2 draw in the Europa League for Napoli against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.

It's only a matter of time before the former Lille man starts banging in the goals in the Italian top-flight, especially when he scored ten goals last season despite suffering from injuries and coronavirus-related issues.

Udinese boss Gotti is full of admiration for Osimhen and has confessed that he monitored the Napoli star long before the Neapolitans made him the club's transfer record buy.

“I followed him before Napoli bought him, at Lille and with Nigeria. I thought right away that it was a good buy for the Serie A,” Gotti said at his rematch press conference, as per Napolicalciolive.

“Last year, he had an injury that limited him and kept him out for a long time, now he is showing all his qualities.”

Another Nigerian descent forward, Tammy Abraham, has been tormenting defences since he switched Chelsea for AS Roma this summer.

And Gotti believes Osimhen and Abraham possess the raw ability and strength to be the new stars of the Italian elite division.

“I am feeling the same sensation for him, for Abraham of Roma: they are both very strong ones who must not be given space, even if they have all the ability to take it by force.”

A win for Napoli will send the Parthenopeans to the top of the Italian Serie A table with 12 points, two more than the duo of Inter Milan and AC Milan.
