The new football season has kicked off, and Saturday was a good day at the office for Nigerian stars across different European Leagues

Victor Osimhen was one of the many Nigerian stars that had a fantastic performance for their clubs over the weekend.

Osimhen rounded up pre-season in style as he scored the opener in Napoli's 4-0 win over Pescara. It was Osimhen's eighth goal in five pre-season games.

In England, Emmanuel Dennis put the disappointment of last season behind as he began life at Watford and in the Premier League with a goal and an assist.

His international compatriots, William Troost-Ekong and Oghenekaro Etebo, also made their Premier League bow as the Hornets beat Aston Villa 3-2.

Alex Iwobi came off the bench to help Everton to a come from behind victory. The former Arsenal star provided the assist for Abdoulaye Doucoure as the Toffees beat Southampton 3-1.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, both featured as a Jamie Vardy strike against Wolves, got Leicester City off to a good start in the Premier League.

On Friday, Frank Onyeka had a debut to remember as Brentford stunned Arsenal 2-0 in their first top-flight match since 1947.

In France, Terem Moffi opened his account for the season, scoring from the penalty spot to help Lorient to a 1-0 win over Monaco.

Taiwo Awoniyi also got off to a good start as he scored a brilliant goal to help Union Berlin to a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, Chidera Ejuke provided an assist in CSKA Moscow's 3-1 win at FC Rostov. The Super Eagles winger set up Fedor Chalov's second goal, sandwiched between strikes from Jaka Bijol and Konstantin Maradishvili.

Paul Onuachu is back to his best after he scored again in Genk's 4-0 thrashing of Oud-Heverlee Leuven.
