The 27-year-old was on target for the second consecutive game as the Smurfs win their first match of the 2021/2022 campaign
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu yet again put all rumours about his future behind him as he helped Genk to a 2-1 win at Kortrijk for their first league victory of the season.
Onuachu had opened his account in Genk’s loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in a Champions League third-round qualifier on Wednesday.
He continued in the same vein on Saturday night, but it was even sweeter as Genk was on the winning side this time.
Genk went into the clash at the Guldensporen Stadion with no wins from four games in all competitions this season.
It looked like their winless streak would continue after Kortrijk went into the break with the lead, courtesy of a strike from Teddy Chevalier in the 18th minute.
However, Onuachu drew the away side level seven minutes after half-time, finishing off an assist from Mike Tresor.
The former Midtjylalland star was a handful for Kortrijk’s defenders and could’ve scored another, but his effort was saved by Marko Ilić.
He would later be substituted three minutes from time for his international compatriot Cyriel Dessers. And just as it looked like the match was heading for a draw, Tresor provided his second assist of the night for Daniel Munoz to fire home a 92nd-minute winner.
