The four-time CAF Champions League winners have added one of Nigeria’s highly-rated prospects to their squad ahead of next season
Esperance of Tunisia have completed the signing of Super Eagles winner Anayo Iwuala from Enyimba Football Club on a three-year deal.
Mkachkha took to their social media accounts to announce the signing of their latest Nigerian import. Esperance paid $500,000 (₦205m) for his services and he’s expected to earn a salary worth $50,000 monthly.
He follows the footsteps of Michael Eneramo, who also played for the four-time African champions. It’s been a remarkable rise for Anayo, who got his big break this year.
The 22-year-old was one of the best players in the just-concluded Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
Anayo made 32 league appearances for the People’s Elephants last season, scoring five goals. His performances earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles team in March, making his debut as a substitute in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.
He also featured in the back-to-back international friendly against Cameroon in June. His career peaked when he led the home-based Super Eagles out in the friendly against Mexico last month.
Why not be patient and wait for a straight switch to mainstream europe, this move sure will scupper his early progress in the eagles, i tire for the desperation of naija players to leave and play anywhere outside this shores.
