Sheffield Wednesday took to their website on Sunday morning to announce the capture of Olamide Shodipo. The highly-rated winger signed on a season-long loan deal from QPR.
Shodipo is the second signing of Nigerian descent in the summer transfer market for the Owls. The signing of Shodipo looks to be a well-calculated move because the young forward has some level of experience in league One.
The Nigeria-eligible winger was vital in Oxford’s push for Championship football last season, scoring ten goals and setting up another two.
Shodipo will hope to help Sheffield Wednesday gain an instant return to the Championship after they were demoted last season.
The Ireland-born forward, under newly employed manager Darren Moore, will hope to show the same form that saw him help his former Oxford side to a semi-final berth in the League One play-off last season.
The QPR academy product has had loan spells at Colchester and Port Vale. He has featured for the Irish youth teams, but he is uncapped for the Irish National team. He is still eligible to represent the Super Eagles
