The two are expected to work wonders when the new Serie A season kicks off next month, and they are already showing a glimpse of that in the pre-season games
Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti has praised Victor’s Osimhen abilities as a player, saying he can turn any situation into an opportunity.
Osimhen scored his fifth goal in two pre-season games as Napoli beat Pro Vercelli at the Stadio Comunale on Saturday afternoon.
The 22-year-old had scored four goals in the Neapolitans thrashing of Bassa Anaunia last week. Osimhen has been tipped to lit up the Serie A next season with Spalletti in charge of Napoli now.
And speaking after the win over Pro Vercelli on Saturday, the former Roma manager praised Osimhen’s sharpness in front of goal.
“Osimhen has the ability to change any situation into an opportunity,” Spalletti told football Italia.
“Obviously, this running around and continually making himself available to press, it does have an effect on his sharpness in front of goal and can lead to errors,” he added.
Osimhen scored ten league goals for The Azzurri last season despite missing more than three months of action due to an injury and Covid-19.
But with Spallettin in charge, there’s no limit to what he can achieve next season. Napoli next take a trip to Allianz-Arena to take on Bayern Munich in their next pre-season game.
