The 2021 Greek league winners are close to sealing a deal for a Super Eagles star in what will be a blow to Fenerbahce’s hopes

Henry Onyekuru has never hidden his desire to remain in Turkey, where he has spent the best part of the last three years, but he is now destined to open the next chapter of his career in Greece.

The exciting Nigerian winger has agreed to join Greek champions Olympiakos, with the deal set to be made official when the Monaco star return from a short visit to Nigeria.

Onyekuru will ink a four-year contract on Sunday, which will see him earn an annual salary of two million euros, totalling eight million euros (N4 bn) for the duration of the contract, says Greek publications Sport-FM, as per Sporx.

Olympiakos are also willing to meet Monaco’s demand of €5 million for the Super Eagles winger.

Galatasaray, where Onyekuru has had three different spells, were the Nigerian forward’s first choice, but the Yellow-and-Reds wanted their former star on another loan deal.

Rivals Fenerbahce then jumped ahead of the queue of clubs aiming to sign the former Eupen hero. Still, personal terms could not be agreed before Olympiakos returned into the picture with a better pay package.

Ligue 1 side Monaco acquired Onyekuru from Premier League club Everton for €13.5 million in 2019, but the Nigerian international failed to settle in France.
