The French side are confident of retaining one of their star players ahead of the new season amidst reports of interest from the German Bundesliga
Nigeria’s newest striking sensation Terem Moffi is expected to return to France for FC Lorient’s preparations for the 2021/22 campaign on or before June 28.
The Ligue 1 club has released its schedule for the pre-season program, which kicks off with a medical test for all playing staff on the said date.
After the results confirm everyone’s status, Lorient will then proceed to full-fledged activity on the football pitch on July 1st.
The Merlus will, after that, go to Dinard for intensive closed camping between July 18 and 24, where special focus will be placed on physical fitness.
A few friendly matches have also been lined up, with coach Pelissier’s men billed to face US Concarneau, Stade Brestois, Girondins de Bordeaux, FC Nantes, and Angers SCO between July 9 and 31.
It is a reasonably congested month for an FC Lorient side that narrowly escaped relegation last term on the final day of the season.
Moffi has claimed a lot of credit for the French side’s great escape after scoring 14 league goals in only his debut season in France.
There have been reports of Borussia Dortmund keeping tabs on the former Kortrijk ace as a replacement for Erling Haaland, should the Norwegian depart Signal Iduna Park.
But Moffi’s immediate target would be to get back to top shape ahead of next season during a preseason camp that has kept him and many Super Eagles regulars out of Nigeria’s international friendly match against Mexico on July 4th.
The 2021/22 Ligue 1 season commences on August 8.
