The Lorient striker and Slavia Prague forward were substitutes in the first of the back-to-back friendly games against the Indomitable Lions
Former Nigerian midfielder Tijani Babangida has urged the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to start the duo of Terem Moffi and Peter Olayinka against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Tuesday’s international friendly game.
Recall that the Super Eagles lost 1-0 to Cameroon last Friday, courtesy of a superb strike from Andre Anguissa. That was Cameroon only shot on target, but it was enough to snap a losing run to the Eagles that started in 2004.
The friendly match between Nigeria and Cameroon on Friday, June 5, was the 17th under Gernot Rohr since he assumed the reins of the Super Eagles in August 2016.
With Victor Osimhen missing in action, Rohr decided to pair Paul Onuachu and Kelechi Ihenacho in the attack, but they failed to threaten the Cameroonian defence.
However, ahead of tomorrow’s game, Babangida, in a chat with Soccernet.ng, called on the German tactician to give the duo of Moffi and Olayinka the chance to prove their worth.
“I really want to see a situation where the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, will give other players such as Moffi and Olayinka the opportunity to prove their worth in the attack.
“We have seen what Pual Onuachu, Iheanacho, and Osimhen can do in the Super Eagles, but we are yet to see the true potentials of Moffi and Olayinka.
Yes, we saw a glimpse of what they can do against Cameroon, and I really don’t see anything wrong if he decides to start them in tomorrow’s game.” Babangida concluded.
Nigeria will be looking for revenge when they take on the five-time African champions for the second time in four days at the Wiener Neustadt Stadion in Austria.
