The Super Eagles striker was on target for the second consecutive weekend as the Neapolitans moved into the top four following a 2-0 win at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium
Victor Osimhen scored his second goal in his last three league games as Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 in the Serie A encounter between the two sides on Sunday afternoon.
Osimhen was on target in the 4-3 win over Crotone last weekend and won a penalty in the 2-1 loss to Juventus on Wednesday.
His latest strike takes his tally in the Italian top-flight to five goals in 17 matches. The Nigerian was a handful for Sampdoria defence and should have had more than a goal, but he was denied on one occasion by Emil Audero.
Gennaro Gattuso’s men took the lead in the 35th courtesy of a strike from Fabian Ruiz following a ball from Piotr Zieliński.
Napoli had the majority of the possession, but it was not until three minutes from time they killed all hopes of a potential Sampdoria comeback.
And it came from the boots of their most expensive signing. The Nigerian latched on to a long ball from Dries Mertens to fire past Audero in Sampdoria’s goal and settle all nerves.
The win temporarily lifts Napoli into the top four with 59 points from 30 games, one ahead of Atalanta, who play Fiorentina later on Sunday.
