The former Golden Eaglets star wasted little time in announcing himself to the Swedish top-flight this season after scoring in Hammarby’s win against Mjallby

Nigeria’s highly-rated youngster Akinkumi Amoo has scored his first goal as Hammarby beat Mjällby AIF 2-0 to pick up their first win in the Swedish Allsvenskan this season.

The 18-year-old scored in the added time of the first half to give Hammarby a 1-0 lead over Mjällby. Amoo swept home a low cross from Mohanad Jeahze to give Stefan Billborn’s men a half-time lead.

Gustav Ludwigson then scored the second 15 minutes from time to seal a comfortable victory for the home side.

Although this is the Bajen’s second league game of the new season, Amoo’s goal is his fifth this season, having scored four times in six games in the Svenska Cupen.

He scored twice against FC Gute before his strike against Oskarshamn. Amoo then grabbed headlines last month after scoring a wonder goal in the 3-2 win over AIK.

The youngster’s profile has been on the rise since his exploits for Nigeria’s U-17 team at the 2019 Caf U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA U-17 World Cup.
