The Nigerian forward has been one of the best strikers in the Italian top-flight, and there are a few clubs on his trail ahead of the summer transfer window
Simeon Nwankwo has reacted to reports linking him with a move away from Stadio Ezio Scida, insisting that he has no plans to quit Crotone in the nearest future.
Simy’s quality is not in doubt after the Super Eagles star finished top of the Serie B goalscorers chart with 20 goals to power the Sharks to promotion last term.
The 27-year-old has not slowed down in the Serie A, with only Cristiano Ronaldo and three others netting more times than the Nigerian forward (15 goals) despite Crotone’s struggles.
Serse Cosmi’s men are doomed to relegation at the end of the campaign, but Simy is attracting interest from other clubs, including Genoa, which could convince the ex-Gil Vicente to remain in the Italian First Division.
But Simy, who joined Crotone five years ago and has already stayed through a previous relegation with the Pythagoreans, is not keen on taking up a new challenge elsewhere.
“It’s not something that interests me, I’m a Crotone player, and I’m very proud of that,” Simy told Tuttomercatoweb.com
“I’ve been here for five years, from the first moment I felt at home and I can’t think of anything else.
“I have a contract with Crotone, I am calm, and I am very happy to be part of this club.”
Simy is in the best form of his career in Serie A, scoring in five consecutive matches, and was the most prolific striker in Europe in March ahead of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
